Green and Gold Winter Holiday Mani

Simple, subtle, lovely!  Like gold decorations on a Christmas tree.  I needed something quick that I could wear to work, and this was it!  I'm loving this deep green- I used a brand I've never used before- something cheap from Target because I was in a hurry.  And I was pleasantly surprised!  The perfect green for what I wanted.

Orly Ingenue and Alabaster Verve

I recently posted a swatch of Orly's Alabaster Verve.  I don't have a lot of Orly polish in my collection, so when I was at the store I went ahead and got myself three bottles.  I also purchased Ingenue, when was labelled with a little "new" ring around it but really isn't new- it's from the winter/holiday collection.  It is a pink based loaded up with tiny, shimmery gold glitter.  It is also basically identical to a bunch of other polishes floating around, but I don't own any of those and this was on sale so into my bin it went, and onto my fingers.  I love it layered over Alabaster Verve.  This is two coasts AV and one coat of Ingenue with Seche Vite as a top coat.

I'm really not a fan of gold.  I'm much more of a silver/white gold person as far as personal taste goes.  However, my skin tone disagrees- gold looks pretty great on me (if I do say so myself, heeey!).  I love this color with my skin tone!

Goldfish Scales

Man I went a little buck wild this past week.  I used an amazon giftcard to buy the entire China Glaze Electropop collection, and if that weren't enough, I went to Ulta and bought like 10 more polishes (most on clearance).  It was great!

One of my Ulta purchases was Sally Hansen's Shiny Penny.  I figured I might be able to use it for stamping.  But then I had a better idea... Layer Shine of the Times on top and see what happened.  Can I just say.... it was GLORIOUS.  Subtle, but dazzling under the right conditions.  It reminded me of a goldfish, and I couldn't stop staring at them.  One of my students told me I looked like I had flecks of gold on my fingernails.  I take that as a mark of approval!

What do you think?  Goldfish scales?  Does this look meet your stamp of approval?

Orly Space Cadet- Picture Heavy!

I don't really even have words for an introduction, so I will let these (many) photos speak for themselves....

Right?!?!?!  Where do I begin?  There are so many colors here.  There's pink (which was hardest to capture), green, bronze, gold all set in a blue/teal base.  Every time you move your hand you see a different color- or a different shade of a color you knew was there!  It's so cool!

The pictures about show three coats.

Mermaid Nails: Teal and Gold Glitter

I bought these from a local store on sale (buy one get one half off).  The gold is what I really wanted, and the teal was more of an afterthought.  But the more I looked at them together in my basket, the more I thought they looked really great together.  And the more I looked, the more they started to remind me of mermaids!  So I came home and tried it out, and I have to say I love them together.

And on another note, I'm LOVING these big gold hexagonal glitters.  I will DEFINITELY use them again, and if they have them in silver I'm totally getting it next time I hit the store, sale or no sale.

I will probably do this again in the summer, if I ever get myself to the beach.
